Public bug reported:

I get a flurry of 4 messages identical or nearly identical on boot-up.  They scroll quickly by while still in text mode, and then redisplay after the display switches to graphics mode.  One of the gurus over in the Ubuntu forums said it's complaining about my monitor.  Since this is a netbook I will not be changing the monitor, and it seems to work just fine, so the errors seem in error.
It's an ASUS eeepc 904HA.  

It's not a show-stopper.  It just untidy, and worries nubies like
myself.  It makes Ubuntu seem just a bit rough around the edges.

This is the chunk of dmesg that seems to be relevant.  All four of the
messages I see say the remainder is 147 like the first line here.
