You have been subscribed to a public bug:
Kubuntu Lucid, clean install from release CD image.
I received an update notification that a new linux-image was available,
so I installed it with apt-get dist-upgrade
linux-image-generic:
Installed: 2.6.32.22.23
Candidate: 2.6.32.22.23
Version table:
*** 2.6.32.22.23 0
500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-updates/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
2.6.32.21.22 0
500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages
However, the update did not pull in the required linux-headers-generic
package and so my nvidia driver (propietary, installed using the
Hardware Drivers app) did not get upgraded. I had to manually
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-2.6.32-22-generic
Only after that did dkms install my nividia driver. Looks like a broken
dependency somewhere, or perhaps a meta package did not get installed
somewhere. I havent removed any packages myself.
** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: Incomplete
