Don't know what happened; I'd booted the alpha3 meercat desktop livecd
with TORAM=yes on a 4gig Acer laptop; it had been running for more than
a day.  I just saw the icon of a crash on the top panel and clicked it.

In the course of answering questions for the bug report, I gather it was
a kernel OOPS, but it wasn't (obviously) in connection with anything I
was doing.
