The version in the ubuntu tree is 8.723.1 (from packages.ubuntu.com).
The latest version is 8.741. ( They use 2 version numbers, year.month
(10.07) and a internal version number (8.741) ).

If you want to try it out, download the driver from the AMD website and
run ./<filename> --buildpkg Ubuntu/lucid and install the deb the it
generates.
