maybe it can help to find what's up but with Kopete i have the same
problem and in the terminal i get this message:

kopete(22399): Communication problem with  "kopete" , it probably crashed. 
Error message was:  "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" : " "Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken." " 

After a while kopete open but don't go on the taskbar anymore, maybe due
of the crash.
