[Bug 577183] Re: keyboard and/or mouse freezing

Commenting because I do not get the same symptoms as bug #528720.

Similarities to original description:
- happens somewhat randomly (occasionally I seem to get a clean session .. i.e. no keyboard failure)
- no problems with what I think was a similar setup using 9.10
- the mouse still works fine

New notes:
- when the failure occurs I also note:
  - I cannot move existing windows by dragging the title bar
  - I can select top level menu items on the main menu bar, but not drop down appears
- originally I upgraded 9.10 to 10.4 and did not see those problems (but due to many other issues with the upgrade [some my fault] I did a fresh install and started seeing the problem
- using Nvidia
- not using compiz
- occurs on a laptop (Dell E8600) while in the docking station (have not noticed issue outside of docking station, but will try some more when I have time)

Never happens for me until after the login. Seems like (at this stage a
very small sample), that if I do much keyboard entry (e.g. entering and
backspacing my password several times) at the login prompt then more
times the problem does not occur. While I am typing this I have a clean
session with no issues.

Perfectly willing to try things if someone can give me a step-by-step.
