This is most often due to a corrupted module in /lib/modules/2.6.32-23-generic (disc error or hardware issue, problem during uncompressing the archive, ...) You can check for 0 byte length modules in this directory tree. Alternatively you can try to reinstall this kernel.
However, kernel 2.6.32.24.25 could you please try to upgrade to this kernel and remove the previous one.
