You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Whenever my laptop boots or resumes from hibernation, I get a the
following warning message along with a series of 20 to 40 beeps that are
so loud I've had to uninstall Jaunty and revert back to Intrepid.

The message text is:

"Over current change on port 1"

This laptop does have some broken USB ports, so I suspect that's why I'm
getting the error message.

The problem is that the beeps are impossibly loud. They can be heard
several rooms away and make booting the computer a literally painful
experience for anyone within 20 feet, and annoying to anyone within 60
feet.

Blacklisting pcspkr does not help. Disabling sounds in Gnome and in
Gnome power management does not help. The bug fix for Bug #331589 does
not fix this issue.

These beeps did not exist in Intrepid. They were introduced to my
machine when I did a clean install of Jaunty. This problem exists in
both Ubuntu and Kubuntu.

I'm using a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop. Audio device: Intel Corporation
82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 02)
