Excuse me, I'm confused. Isn't the issue here that Alps touchpad is
(incorrectly) detected as a generic ImPS/2 mouse by the kernel? (As
stated by the summary) In this sense, isn't this the same as bug #550625
?

My impression is that some people here think it's a bug in synaptics
xorg driver. What makes you think so? I'm not trying to challenge
anybody, I'd just like to get some clarification.
