Public bug reported:
Basically, the whole bug is described in the summary. After I upgraded the kernel and kernel headers to 2.6.32-24, I heard no sound out of both my netbook (Asus Eee PC 1015P) speakers and headphones. aplay -l gave the message about 'no soundcards found'. I already had this problem after I just installed Ubuntu 10.04 Netbook Remix on the netbook, so I fixed it as before by running this script: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1046137
The problem is gone, but as this was the second time ALSA refused to recognize my sound card, I'm afraid that the problem is going to reoccur and that I'm not the only person suffering from the bug.
I believe it's the developers who are the only people to fix the problem by fixing the next kernel version's sound driver options, so that I don't have to reinstall ALSA once more.
