[Bug 615533] [NEW] No suspend on Dell Inspiron 5100 in Ubuntu 10.04

This is on a clean Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 install:

I am unable to enter suspend mode on the computer at all - either by
clicking on "suspend" from the top-right menu or by using the function
keys on the keyboard. When I do click it, nothing happens whatsoever!

I have used the ubuntu-bug tool to provide all relevant information and
would also be willing to test upstream kernels or packages to try and
get to the bottom of the problem.
