You have been subscribed to a public bug:

With the original Xandros distro, when I plug in an audio source to the
red jack (microphone/line-in), it switches off the built-in microphone
and records from the audio jack source using arecord or audacity.

Ubuntu Jaunty (including several eeepc specific versions with 2.6.28-12,
and -11 and -13 for regular jaunty) seem to work 100% for everything
else on my 900a.

When I plug in my iPod, an external (cheap skype) microphone, or
anything else into the red jack, it still records from the built-in
microphone.

I checked all mixer settings - the screen and names are sometimes
different, but it should still automatically switch (i.e. it should
switch from the microphone to the external line-in without changing any
of the devices or otherwise requiring any intervention, setting, or
system call).

This is probably in snd_hda_intel, and may require an option at load
time, but I've tried those that are supposed to work on others (although
I didn't have any of the described problems) and they don't fix the
900A.

Instead, it always records from the microphone above the display.

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Incomplete
