[Bug 613710] [NEW] linux-firmware update issues

Launchpad Bug Tracker 613710 at bugs.launchpad.net
Thu Aug 5 09:57:43 UTC 2010

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

There is a recent update that will not install.

The update is:

linux-firmware version 1.34.1:

[ Chase Douglas ]

  * Add AudioScience ASI series audio device firmware
    -LP: #557037
  * Add RealTek RTL8192E firmware
    -LP: #508746
  * Update firmware from rt2870sta
    -LP: #580926

  [ Tim Gardner ]

  * radeon: add evergreen family microcode.
    -LP: #560306

Whenever I try to update this package I get this error:

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/linux-firmware_1.34.1_all.deb: trying to
overwrite '/lib/firmware/asihpi/dsp2400.bin', which is also in package
alsa-firmware 0

I have also as a result of this error had to resort to using an older
version of of 10.04 to compensate for this, if I use the newer versions
graphics are horrendously slow.

Thanks in advance for any help if anyone can help,

** Affects: linux-firmware (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
