** Description changed:
Neither K3b nor Brasero or the file managers (Dolphin, nautilus) detect a blank DVD, I'd like to burn onto (DVD-RW).
This is true for the current Lucid kernel, but also for 2.6.35 from Maverick.
I cannot say when this got broken, because I rarely burn anything or use any DVDs at all.
When inserting the DVD, the drive's LED provides feedback though: the
drive behaves as always, blinking a few times, but then nothing happens
in Ubuntu/Kubuntu.
+
+ This appears to have regressed during Lucid development; I am quite
+ certain that it was still working during the Christmas holidays in 2009.
