[Bug 364232] [NEW] HP Pavilion dv9000 hangs on boot if power is not plugged in

Immediately after grub starts loading the operating system, the screen
goes blank until I touch the multimedia touch pad above the keyboard.
When the multimedia touchpad is touched, the boot splash apears, but the
progress bar is stopped at about 1/8 of its length.
