Thomas-I can only echo what Clif had to say-exactly the same results. I
followed your instructions and only resulted in losing all audio. I then
reversed the process, now I'm back where I started. I think this mobo
has a different sound card that linux drivers just aren't available yet.
I think I just might RMA this board: Asus P7P55D-E and get something by
Gigabyte instead. I understand they support Linux pretty well; I've got
to do some more research. I'm really disappointed in Asus-their tech
support sure doesn't meet the standards I was led to expect. I feel they
no longer care to support Linux- during 1 contact I made the guy I
talked to actually said I had psu. He obviously just didn't to deal with
my issue. (the built-in network card lost all contact with my isp
[qwest] and after spending 1 1/2 hrs. with them I came to realize I had
a hardware problem. The only way I was able to re-connect was to
completely remove all power to my machine! Just shutting down the normal
way didn't work. This has happened twice.)
Thanks for letting me sound off and trying to help me with this
issue. I'm passing on this info in case somebody else with the same or
similar board might benefit.
Dan
