I just updated to Ubuntu 10.04 and I tried the same fix using linux-
backports-modules-alsa-lucid-generic. Unfortunately it hasn't worked.
Alsamixer displays the chip "VIA ID 4441" instead of "VIA VT1828S" and I
can neither get any input from the mic nor set the output to 5.1
surround. I'm limited to Off, Stereo Input, Stereo Output, Stereo
Duplex.
