** Description changed:

  Canon 500D DSLR does not mount at all. lsusb and lshw does report that
  the device is found. After a few seconds when the camera goes to a power
  saving state (LCD goes blank etc) the device gets unregistered (dmesg &
  usb disconnect message).
  
  This is not actually a very new bug since it was introduced in 9.10,
  presumably because of an kernel update (stopped working some months
  ago). Currently I'm running 10.04.
  
  I just tested the camera with 9.04, kernel 2.6.28 and it worked just
- fine.
+ fine. I also tested it with 9.10, kernel 2.6.31-14 and it works with

  This problem does NOT occur on other computers (I've tested it with four
  other computers) with 10.04 or 9.10, so clearly it's hardware specific.
