did say in my post. The fix did work for the previous poster (using
9.10-not 10.04 as I am) Thank you for your quick response-I sure hope

Bug description:
Ubuntu 9.10 - Intel HD using the VIA VT1828S audio chipset. The Asus P7P55D
motherboard input doesn't work and I cannot record anything. I have a second
mic on the front panel and this isn't even picked up by the OS, but it works
in Windows XP.
