[Bug 568853] [NEW] ubuntu-10.04-rc-desktop-i386 does not boot on HP/compaq nc6000

Public bug reported:

After installing ubuntu-10.04-rc-desktop-i386 on an USB key, I tried it
on a Compaq(HP) NC6000 laptop (a rather old machine running happily
Ubuntu 8.04 LTS)

I got the first purple screen, then the ubuntu logo with blinking
dots.... that never ends.

Trying to change console (Ctrl-alt f1-F12) does not allow to get any
information : NO messages


I already noticed this on previous beta release.
Only the very first alpha release booted on this machine.
