running command  "lspci | grep -i vga" gives this output


00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device (rev 02)


which is same to what "k3lt01" has on his/her pc

i have tried all the possible settings with modeset, also i tried to
reconfigure x after booting into the safe mode but that utility does not
seem to work in lucid. only way i can log in with the latest kernel is
to boot into failover x 'safe graphics mode'.

any help would be appreciated.
