[Bug 386914] [NEW] boot crash

Using old DELL Laptop - INSPIRON 3700
After updating from 8.10 to 9.04:-

Kernel 2.6.28-13 crashes in early boot phase (sound or video driver?)
Kernel 2.6.27-14 works fine.
Previously had no problems with 8.10

Note: same problem occurs when booting from Unbuntu, Kubuntu and Xbuntu
live CD on 9.04.

Sorry don't know how to get bug listing for early boot phase.
Would be willing to try with guidance.
