Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.32-21-generic

I have a Thinkpad X40 and have 10.4b2 installed on it. If I let it boot
into the most recent kernel 2.6.32-21, the machine locks up hard when it
tries to start Xorg. I get a black screen and nothing happens.
Keyboard is unresponsive: ctrl-alt-f1 doesn't switch, and even the
capslock lights don't respond.

This occurs whether I'm doing a normal boot or if I do a recovery-mode
boot and manually type "startx" at a command prompt.

If I override the default boot kernel and force grub2 to boot into
2.6.32-20, everything works fine.

lsb_release-rd reports:
Ubuntu lucid (development branch) 10.04

I guess this could be an Xorg issue, but it does work fine with the
older kernel. The only weird thing about my startup parameters is the
inclusion of "hpet=force" in the linux command line.

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
