[Bug 560519] [NEW] Random or missing keystrokes while using music player

Public bug reported:

When running any music player with a large number of songs selected all at once, keyboard misses keystrokes or repeats a key randomly. Now that I use a second computer (windows) to play music while I work this has not recurred.
I see that there have been a number of bugs of this nature, but the last activity does not seem to be recent.
The only non-standard aspect of my system is that I followed a suggestion on ubuntu forums to install a different flavour of java, in order to make some aspect of the sound system work better. ( This has been utterly disastrous, sound does not work correctly anymore, and gnome desktop search crashes immediately on use! )
The same symptom was also produced on occasions when desktop search would run an update service endlessly, using one of the cores at 100 percent.
Presumably this problem could be a direct consequence of the 'wrong' java, but it could also be that the repeated recurrence of this symptom in bugs

    * Bug #41771
    * Bug #48746
    * Bug #49061
could mean that there is an underlying problem which shows up in various different guises.
I am reporting this as a new bug since it seems to be caused simply by the system being very busy with a specific task, either the desktop search update or the playing of a large number of songs in movie player or xmms, both of which stop all activity on the pc for a minute or two when first invoked.
Sorry, I have no idea what source package is involved, I hope that running ubuntu-bug -p linux as requested has provided all the essential information.
