Hi Rolf,
Sorry forgot all about this bug until I got your ping. I can confirm that the thinkpad is now upgraded to Karmic and exhibits the same behaviour. I have also noted that it doesn't actually suspend when closing the lid sometimes, and if it does the lights just flash as before and no resume is possible.
