[Bug 557894] [NEW] hibernate does not shut off computer

Public bug reported:

the command hibernate (from menu) seems to execute properly, but fails
to switch of the computer at the end. there is a black screen after some
disk activity, but the power light stays on. i need to manually switch
off (power switch long depressed). later ubuntu starts normal (not from
hibernation).

problem existed already under karmic (but sometimes ok), with lucid it
seems always to be the case.
