Btw, I guess you probably mean
rtl8187L_linux_26.1039.0104.2010.release.tar.gz.

I've tried this one (among many others) and it does not work as well
(Ubuntu x64, kernel 2.6.31).

You can connect to to distant APs, but the problem with no throughput
still exists, so the driver is basically useless (for the close APs I
can just use my laptop's build in wlan adapter).
