Is the sata drive NCQ capable ? and it is NCQ enabled ? What controller
do you have ? If you have ICH8 is BIOS settings for the Intel
ICH8/Jmicron363 controllers in AHCI mode.?

you can do sudo hdparm -I /dev/sdXXX and sudo lspci -vvnn to get that
info.
