This has occurred on my Lucid build:

Apr  4 15:35:44 marvin kernel: [ 4538.294260] sky2 eth0: enabling interface
Apr  4 15:35:47 marvin kernel: [ 4541.399297] sky2 eth0: Link is up at 1000 Mbps, full duplex, flow control both

I'll have to check, though my networking is integrated not an addon
board..
