off-topic: is there a way, in case everything (or most things) work(s)
well, to just adopt the .iso with any configurations made on it, and
install/use it (something like a dist-upgrade from karmic)?

It c/w-ould be then a "recommended" way for macbook(pro) owners before
upgrading to lucid.
