[Bug 553277] [NEW] Kernel 2.6.31.20 fails to boot

Public bug reported:

System fails immediately when booting this kernel.  I installed the
system from the ISO for 9.10 and all worked fine.  Then I did an update-
manager upgrade to load the latest packages.  It installed this kernel

the details.  The original kernel 2.6.31.14 boots without difficulty.
