Just to inform you, I have been upgrading everything at a regular basis,
still the problem occurs at a irregular basis. A complete freeze of the
system, no error messages, no indications in the log files what went
wrong.

I wonder if this problem occurs to others as well. By the way, if I run
Windows XP (dual boot) on the same system, this problem does not occur,
making faulty hardware less likely.
