Hi Leann, Chris,

I've tried with karmic installing linux-image-2.6.31-9-generic package
with these results:

usuario at nb200:~$ cat /proc/version_signature 
Ubuntu 2.6.31-9.29-generic

1) playback through internal speakers: Not OK
2) speakers mute when headphones plugged in (and sound is heard through headphones): Not OK, headphones don't work.
3) recording through the internal mic: OK
4) recording through an external mic: Not OK, when an external mic is plugged gnome-sound-recording is still using internal mic.
