[Bug 264789] Re: USB Hard Drive Not Accessible, vol_id hangs

A patch in the 2.6.31.5 upstream stable patch set for the kernel
contains a patch which may help.  The Karmic 9.10 kernel will be pulling
in this set of stable patches as a stable release update to Karmic.
I've taken the liberty to build a test kernel for Karmic containing this
one patch which may help not only subscribers of this bug, but a few
others as well.  If anyone here can test and provide feedback running
this test kernel within Karmic that would be much appreciated:
