I'm also having similar trouble getting the Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000
working in Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic x86_64. I can't get anything other than
the green screen problem.

I've tried all of the preload options I could find, but none of them
seem to work for 64-bit Karmic. Anyone know of a fix for Karmic 64-bit
yet?
