Running Karmic beta.
uname -a ->Linux sully 2.6.31-12-generic #40-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 7 04:14:43 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux
Still have this problem (with an sis190).
Did run 
sudo ethtool -s eth0 autoneg off
but did not solve the problem.
