Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: initramfs-tools
I am not sure it's bug in initramfs-tools, I just think it, because it
may before mounting the real root fs. My problem (with up-to-date karmic
on x86 32 bit) that after the ubuntu logo (usplash) it disappears after
a while and I can see several lines complaining about the lack of
/bin/uname reported by /sbin/modprobe ("in line 23"), that's why I
thought it's initramfs time since on the "normal" rootfs there is
/bin/uname, so it can't be the lack of that. Also there is something
(after this) that usplash cannot set a video mode so it picks another
instead. After that there are few messages about starting services (the
last is the crypto) then I get back usplash, then soon xsplash starts
normally. My question: why does the usplash part is interrupted by some
text mode time? Surely, it's not a serious bug maybe just looks "ugly"
to have this problem. Is it possible to have this problem because I have
custom edited /etc/usplash.conf from the previous version of ubuntu [as
far as I remember?]. But then I still can't understand the problem about
/bin/uname which is surely not because of the video mode. Thanks!
