Updated to Kubuntu Karmic. Still getting this problem. That's what I can
see in /var/log/messages at such moments (just like it was before):

Nov 30 19:21:30 ubuntop kernel: [41663.223928] psmouse.c: GlidePoint at isa0060/serio4/input0 - driver resynched.
