[Bug 280644] Re: internal microphone not working properly in acer aspire 5720, can't record

I have an Acer TravelMate 5730.  I am using Ubuntu 9.10 but cannot
record sound from either an external microphone or the internal
microphone, all I hear is static.  I have tried recording in the 'Sound
Recorder' and also in 'Cheese'.  As a Linux newbie I would like to  be
informed of a simple resolution to this issue.  I really do not want to
regress to Windows 7!
