I can reproduce this bug too. I am running Ubuntu Karmic without the
backport modules. I have just installed them too.

My WiFi card is:
07:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless WiFi Link 5100

I attach my /var/log/messages so you can see the errors it generates. I
didn't use dmesg because it was polluted with CPU downclocking messages
because of the driver using 100% of the CPU and overheating it :)
