Looks like the is mostly solved upstream by reverting patch
d0646f7b636d067d715fab52a2ba9c6f0f46b0d7 and adding the patch
487caeef9fc08c0565e082c40a8aaf58dad92bbb.

@apw could you or csurbhi build a test kernel and post here so folks can
test?
