If you open a terminal and do a "df -h", the free space listed
for "/" should have at least 10M free. The generic install has
all files (including those in your home directory) in one file-
system. So, some housekeeping would be required (in other words
delete files you do not need anymore).

[Actually I would normally be worried if I had less than 200M
free in "/" as updates take temporarily space as well. If your
update finally goes right, you might want to try
"sudo apt-get clean" to get rid of those]
