I have no idea what kernel version you are using but the patch has
worked fine for me on all versions I tried it against, you do need a
little technical knowledge about your hardware, do you have 256M or 512
or 1G or ....? I only have 1 system to test against with 512M of video
ram.

Also when building against 2.6.24 kernels I was able to use custom-
binary-generic rather than binary-generic, this one change has forced me
to keep installing my own kernel build if I apt-get -u dist-upgrade
because the system will pull in and install the copy from repositories
etc.
