bad idea if there really is a degraded array...

needs fix or disable raid 10 (which is drastic). easier to fix than
audit the many possible causes of data loss this might bring about if we
left the bug in there. I don't understand why fedora kernels boot Ubuntu
without this problem. Maybe someone clever could diff between the kernel
i mention above and the ubuntu one: surely a clue there...
