Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: linux-image
Upon upgrading my parents pc, from 8.04 to 9.04 (with 8.10 in between).
The kernel will hard lock shortly after initializing the video adapter.
(Usb mouse/keyboard no response, can't drop to ctrl-alt-f1). Using the
mainline kernel ppa, this seems to be a regression since 2.6.24.7 Tried
forcing vesa over radeon, but didn't seem to make a difference.

These works:
Hardy: 2.6.24-24-generic
linux-image-2.6.24-02062407-generic_2.6.24-02062407_i386.deb
These hard Lock:
Intrepid: 2.6.27-14-generic
Jaunty: 2.6.28-13-generic
linux-image-2.6.26-020626-generic_2.6.26-020626_i386.deb
linux-image-2.6.30-020630-generic_2.6.30-020630_i386.deb
linux-image-2.6.31-020631rc1gc0d1117-generic_2.6.31-020631rc1gc0d1117_i386.deb
Forgot 2.6.25, will test that shortly. I'll only have access to this
machine for another day or so (parents house) so i'll try to find
another sis 746 based motherboard for more testing.
** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
