Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image

Package: linux-image 2.6.31-1.11
Hardware: Samsung X20 Laptop

No visible error messages or kernel panic or any graphical output whatsoever.
Almost immediately after the kernel is loaded from grub, the computer restarts.

When choosing 2.6.30-10-generic instead (from the grub boot list), the
Ubuntu boot screen and progress bar appears and Ubuntu starts up fine.
