For some reason this got assigned to package linux-source-2.6.15
originally. Setting to xserver-xorg instead.

** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.15
+ In Intrepid on my Dell Inspiron 500m, key repeat stopped working for all
+ keys both on the laptop's keyboard and an external USB keyboard.

- In Intrepid on my Dell Inspiron 500m, sometimes key repeat stops working
- for all keys both on the laptop's keyboard and an external USB keyboard.
- I'm using the computer for hours daily, and this happens not more than
- once a month on average.
+ This has happened before, but a reboot has fixed the problem. This time
+ repeat is disabled even after reboot.

- None of the tricks mentioned in comments to other bugs about key repeat problems work in my case:

  - xset r on

  - xset r 116
  - xset r rate 10 50
  - sudo kdbrate -d 1 -r 50
  - Option "AutoAddDevices" "off" followed by logout/login
  - adjusting repeat options in the keyboard layout settings
+ - toggling and adjusting the slow keypress option in keyboard accessibility settings
+ - logging out and in
+ - rebooting

  My kernel is
  Linux veli 2.6.27-11-generic #1 SMP Thu Jan 22 17:22:40 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux

- This has happened before the last kernel upgrade, probably even before
- moving from Hardy to Intrepid (fresh install) if my memory serves
- correct.
+ I also just got a kernel upgrade, and the problem persists:
+ Linux veli 2.6.27-11-generic #1 SMP Thu Jan 29 19:24:39 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux

- I'm using dual-head on Intel 855GM. My keyboard layout is a customized
- dvorak, but changing to a standard Finnish layout and logging out and in
- doesn't fix the problem.

-
- Last time this happened I was typing in Emacs.
-
- I know this report is very vague, and it will be difficult to analyze
- since probably repeat will be ok after I reboot and the problem might
- not re-appear in several weeks.

+ repeat is disabled even after reboot. Repeat works in console, so this
