Bad news: I've just updated to kernel 2.6.27-11 and the problem is still
here.

Using hpet=disable everything seems fine.
- HP Pavilion dv6000us, AMD Turion 64x2, nVidia, Broadcom wireless
- Ubuntu 8.10 i386
