Hi I also have an issue to print via ECP/LPT0 on my HP LaserJet4 Plus - getting error message on printer:
"W2 Invalid Pers.
Here is what I checked:
BIOS: ECP is enabled
dsmesg only one line associated with ECP:
[ 9.353860] lp0: using parport0 (interrupt-driven).
/var/log/kern.log.0 - looks good to me, exactly how it was set up in Windows XP
tsp0001 at desktop1:~$ grep ECP /var/log/kern.log.0
Aug 29 19:16:45 desktop1 kernel: [ 8.874558] parport0: PC-style at 0x378 (0x778), irq 7, dma 3 [PCSPP,TRISTATE,COMPAT,EPP,ECP,DMA]
Aug 29 22:35:15 desktop1 kernel: [ 9.754990] parport0: PC-style at 0x378 (0x778), irq 7, dma 3 [PCSPP,TRISTATE,COMPAT,EPP,ECP,DMA]
Aug 30 14:51:43 desktop1 kernel: [ 9.051534] parport0: PC-style at 0x378 (0x778), irq 7, dma 3 [PCSPP,TRISTATE,COMPAT,EPP,ECP,DMA]
However, I could not print - nothing comes out. Print manager shows
status - "Printing"
