Hi Daniel,

I happened to come across the following thread on the alsa-devel mailing
list, "realtec ALC272 support":

http://mailman.alsa-project.org/pipermail/alsa-
devel/2009-May/016917.html

And it seemed to reference a patch to enable audio:

http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubuntu/ubuntu-hardy-
lum.git;a=commitdiff;h=7662834bb9a78d244c6d7ee43358c14c94d249c9

There also seemed to be a series of patches which followed to mute the
speakers when the headphones are plugged in:

http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubuntu/ubuntu-hardy-
lum.git;a=commitdiff;h=d47775d68efa5d80552839231fcb4f54dc254c08

And then enable the microphone:

http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubuntu/ubuntu-hardy-
lum.git;a=commitdiff;h=cc28eee26d33fac60d598fb2269e673ba83570e9

Do you have any opinion on if these look sane and if we should push
harder to get these upstream? From the thread it seemed communication
dropped off due to no longer having access to the hw.

@Antonio, it would be interesting if you could test at least the first
patch and confirm if it at least brings back sound.
